  • The Temple of Desna contains a ritual that is going on.
  • After sacrificing a halfling, the main priest pauses the ritual and talks at us:
    • !
    • WE have heard, but shall we listen?
    • We interrupted the revelry of those at the fountain - took them away from the place they belong.
    • Offering knowledge and energy to this place
  • The Priest offers us a chance to listen to the voices telling of change, and also offers a chance to retreat.
  • Calen has a moment where he needs to resolve the change he speaks of vs. the change that Alseta has told him of.
  • Calen, Val and Kite head towards the priest to speak with him closer before Kite and Calen resolve to destroy this priest.
  • The runes in Val's skin seem to be reacting to the maelstrom, causing them to sear in pain. They are written in part in Aklo, the language of ancient forbidden knowledge and secrets.
  • You are aware of a handful of various ways to break sacrifical rituals. The maelstrom and trying to dispel it is far beyond anything you have learned or attempted before. Bringing Val closer to the maelstrom will definitely have a reaction. The "Voices" seem to be capable of capitalizing on her markings to get at her. Whether or not that makes any sort of dispelling easier is to be discovered. Regardless, the maelstrom seems not to be the apex of this power, just a window to it.
